1. RULES

The Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004, the 2004 KHYC Twilights Course Chart, this Notice of Race and any future KHYC Handicap Racing Fleet notices will govern this series.

2. ELIGIBILITY

This racing series is open to all interested owners of sailing yachts. Membership in PHRF is not required. Yachts not currently assigned a handicap by PHRF will be assigned one by the KHYC Handicap Racing Fleet Captain. Buoy ratings shall apply.

3. ENTERING AND ENTRY FEE

Completing a KHYC Race Entry Form prior to 1730 hours PDT on the day of the first race in which it competes may enter yachts. Only one Entry Form is required for the entire series. The entry fee is payable either before 1730 PDT on the day of the race, or in advance for the entire season series. Registration committee will be available at KHYC prior to each race to receive entries and fees. Fees are $5 per race and series discounts are available. Yachts failing to enter and pay the fee prior to the race will not be scored.

4. CLASSES AND RACE SCHEDULE

Races will be held most Thursday evenings beginning 4/15/04 and ending 6/24/04 for the first half, and ending 9/9/04 for the season. Races will not be held 8/5/04. The warning signal for the first start will be at 1815 PDT. Start times and classes are as follows:

Boats wishing to compete non-spinnaker in Classes A & B must declare their status at time of sign-up or hail the Race Committee boat prior to 1810 hours and declare their intention to be recognized as a non-spinnaker entry and they will receive their PHRF offset. The Race Committee has the discretion to alter sequences and/or combine starts with proper signaling.

5. COURSES AND STARTS

All courses will be selected from KHYC Course Chart 2004 Twilights. The start line is restricted until the last class has started.

6. TROPHIES AND SEASON SCORING

Individual race trophies will be awarded by class after each race. The number by class size is posted in the KHYC Race Committee room. The Fleet will recognize class winners for each half series. Half season awards may be combined at the discretion of the HRF Captain if the same boat wins both. For the series competitions, 2 throw-outs per half will be applied. An automatic first place will be awarded per season for a boat that does not compete because of Race Committee duty. Season scoring will be low point: 1 pt. for first, DNS number of starters + 1 pt., DNF number of finishers plus 1 pt., DSQ number of starters + 2 pts. A boat must enter 50% or more of the races to qualify as a series participant.
