KING HARBOR YACHT CLUB - NOTICE OF RACE
POINT DUME/MALIBU RACE - SATURDAY, MAY 8th, 2004



3rd RACE OF THE SPINNAKER SERIES



DIVISIONS: Class splits are as follows: A-(0-149) B-(150-999). A Category 3 event – RLC ratings apply.

ENTRIES: Entries from members of SCYA affiliate yacht clubs who hold valid ratings will be accepted at KHYC until 1030 on race day. There will be a $13.00 entry fee for non-USSA members and $10.00 for USSA members.

START: In the vicinity of “S” mark. The first warning will be at 1200. Boats must sail by the Race Committee boat prior to the first warning in order to be recognized as a starter.

COURSE: From the start, “A” boats will round Pt. Dume buoy “R12” to port, then King Harbor “G” mark to port, “W” mark to port, then to finish. Handicap distance is approx. 44.5 NM. “B” boats will race to a buoy located in proximity to Malibu Pier and back, about 34.9 NM. “W” mark is the white mid-channel buoy at the harbor entrance. Detailed sailing instructions will be available at registration.

FINISH: The finish line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the race committee boat and the East Jetty Light (fl. Red) at the harbor entrance. If the Committee boat is off station, boats shall take their times when the Jetty Light bears 100 degrees off the starboard beam. Notify Race Committee before Noon on Sunday, May 9th.

RULES: The 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing, USSA prescriptions and the Sailing Instructions will apply. Boats that do not finish must notify the Race Committee as soon as possible after retiring.

PROTESTS: Protesting boats shall fly a red flag, notify the protested boat immediately and notify the Race Committee when finishing. A written protest (forms available at KHYC) must be filed by 1200 on Sunday, May 9th. Hearings will be held before 1800 on Sunday.

TROPHIES: The Lobster House Perpetual Trophy for the longest series race will be awarded at the annual Awards Event at the end of the year.

HOSPITALITY: All participants are welcome in the Clubhouse before and after the race. Participating boats are welcome to use the KHYC guest dock and hoist facilities.
