Cruising Fleet

The Cruising Fleet is a social and boating oriented organization within King Harbor Yacht Club. Its function is to promote cruising oriented activities within the Club. Fleet membership is open to all KHYC Members who are encouraged to join the Fleet for social as well as activities related to cruising. Joining traditionally has proven to be an excellent way for new Club members to become acquainted with the various Club activities and to meet new friends. Cruising Fleet Members do not have to own a boat. The membership of about 120 members is a nice mixture of couples and singles.

Activities
Besides organizing and promoting cruises in our local waters and local offshore islands, an important function of the Fleet is to assist in the management and maintenance of the KHYC Catalina Station located in Little Fisherman’s Cove on Santa Catalina Island. (This Station or Facility is discussed in detail in another area of the website.) The Fleet sponsors a major summer social event at the KHYC Catalina Island Facility. The Fleet also assists the Commodore with the Opening Day Program by organizing the Open Boat Display and managing the Opening Day Raffle.

The Cruising Fleet meets once a month usually on the Friday following the Friday of the General Meeting. Members share a potluck dinner prior to the 8 pm meeting, which frequently features a yachting related program of general interest to the members.
